CLASS DESCRIPTION - SUPER MACHINE STITCHING
Come explore the possibilities offered by decorative and utility stitches on today's incredible sewing machines. We will cover adjusting and combining stitches,satin stitching, foolproof anchoring, tapering, pivoting, free-motion styles and double needle effects.
Each student must have a modern zigzag sewing machine with the ability to adjust the width in increments. I am by no means a mechanic, so please come to class with a clean machine in good working order.
SUPPLY LIST
___Sewing machine (zigzag) with all manuals Yes, it is worth bringing your best machine!
___Darning or quilting (free-motion) foot
___Open toe embroidery foot
___Multi-plug & long extension cord
___Scissors, both paper and fabric
___Medium to heavyweight stabilizer or freezer paper. My favorite is RinsAway by HTCW, Cotton Fix or Cotton Stable by Madeira, or Stable Stuff by Ricky Tims
___Pencil
___Fine point permanent marker
___Paper sack for trash
___Tape to attach sack to table
FABRIC
___Two or three 12” (30cm.) fabric squares in light solid colors or very small, tone-on-tone prints. This is a good use for scraps
SEWNG MACHINE NEEDLES:
___#90/14 Topstitch
___#80/12 Microtex, Jeans/Denim, or Universal
THREADS
___The Bottom Line,Bobbinfil, Tru-Sew, Metrolene, Sew-Bob, Clotilde or YLI Bobbin & Lingerie. These are very fine, synthetic threads for the bobbin.
___30 or 40 wt decorative threads in colors that contrast with your fabrics. Can also use variegated. These can be silk, rayon, acrylic or polyester.

CLASSROOM REQUIREMENTS
- Classroom that can be darkened
- Bernina sewing machine for the exclusive use of the Instructor
- 2-3 irons and ironing boards
- Large screen or white wall (Instructor will bring digital projector)
